OUR MISSION

EDUCATION IS THE MOST POWERFUL WEAPON WHICH YOU CAN USE TO CHANGE THE WORLD

NELSON MANDELA

We want to ensure that everyone has access to quality education to explore their passions.

Literate and illiterate world population
Over the past fifty years, education levels have increased globally, seen in the exponential increase in literacy. This is because it has been a priority for many governments, international institutions and development projects.

Although we see these positive improvements, there is still a lot of work to be done. The last 18 percent of the population who is illiterate are primarily located in Sub-Saharan Africa and Southeast Asia. In addition, there is a vast inequality to access to Tertiary Education across the globe, which is seen below. Many of the areas with limited access to higher education are in areas that are amidst market volatility, weak institutions, intra conflict zones and ecological challenges. Due to this, potential students with the capability and aspiration to contribute to the development of their communities are not reached.

Our goal is to give continuation to the increase in individuals being able in their pursuit of higher education by providing them with accessible, affordable and high quality courses that will lead them to employment, whereby our students will be able to give back to their local communities as well as to the wider society.

Online distance learning still faces obstacles such as technological access, but with development in this area and the ability to access course content on mobile phones, online education alleviates many obstacles. We ensure that high-qualified professors and teaching assistants from around the world connect with students in remote and hard to reach places. We want to do what we can, using this technology, to ensure that those who want to learn, can.

We also want to ensure that access to funds is not an issue for students who want to enrol. There is no tuition for many of the diplomas that we offer. Students pay a small enrolment fee. The fees are adjusted to the local prices and incomes in the country the student resides in.

OUR BRAND PILLARS

ACCESSIBILITY

MIU’s goal is to make higher education programmes as accessible as possible in areas affected by market volatility, weak institutions, intra conflict zones and ecological challenges.

Such regions still face obstacles, with access to technology being one of them and a fundamental tool needed for us to achieve our goal. With the potential for our students to  access course content on electronic devices, online education alleviates many stumbling blocks. We are committed to providing high-qualified professors and teaching assistants from around the world to connect with our students in remote places. With the wider use of technology, MIU will be able to continue to encourage and support those who wish to access higher education.

At MIU, we ensure that access to funds is not a barrier for students who wish to enrol, with many of our courses being free of charge.

GIVING BACK TO SOCIETY

MIU has developed our programmes to assist our students to explore topics that have the potential to solve critical issues on a global scale, as well as to provide practical skillsets that will assist them with finding meaningful employment.

HIGH QUALITY EDUCATION

Our students learn from and work with academics who are not only experts in their fields but are also passionate about creating tangible and impactful changes in their communities and internationally. The courses are a combination of academic theory and a hands-on approach, applying theory learn in classroom to real world situations and, in particular, their communities.

All of MIU’s  courses have a community-based focus. MIU students have the option to be part of a blended learning environment, to work through one of our partner institutions or to be a remote learner engaging with our online community. We know that whichever method of learning our students choose, they will be given the tools and resources to make a positive impact not only in their community, but also worldwide, through business, policy, programmes, activism or anything else they might choose to.

We believe that our students will create sustainable change across the globe

We have developed our programs to ensure that students are studying and exploring topics that have the potential to solve critical issues worldwide as well as provide practical skillsets that help our students find meaningful employment. This is why we have developed courses in what we believe are key areas for impact. This includes areas like entrepreneurship, international management and ethics, with other courses like human rights and international development coming soon.

Our  students  learn from and work with academics who are not only experts in their fields but are also enthusiastic about generating concrete changes. The courses are designed to overview the necessary academic theory and then apply that theory to real world examples. At MIU, we go one step further by then asking our students to apply the knowledge they have learnt to their own communities in their coursework.

As MIU has students from all over the world, we want to ensure that our courses have a community-based focus. This is why our students have the option to be a part of a blended learning environment, to work through one of our partners or to be a remote learner engaging with our online community. We know that whichever method of learning our students choose, they will be given the tools and resources to contribute to their community in a positive and impactful way, whether through business, policy, programs or activism.
