EDUCATION IS THE MOST POWERFUL WEAPON WHICH YOU CAN USE TO CHANGE THE WORLD
NELSON MANDELA
Our goal is to make higher education programs as accessible as possible in these areas both financially and geographically.
Online distance learning still faces obstacles such as technological access, but with development in this area and the ability to access course content on mobile phones, online education alleviates many obstacles. We ensure that high-qualified professors and teaching assistants from around the world connect with students in remote and hard to reach places. We want to do what we can, using this technology, to ensure that those who want to learn, can.
We also want to ensure that access to funds is not an issue for students who want to enrol. There is no tuition for many of the diplomas that we offer. Students pay a small enrolment fee. The fees are adjusted to the local prices and incomes in the country the student resides in.
We have developed our programs to ensure that students are studying and exploring topics that have the potential to solve critical issues across the globe as well as provide practical skillsets that help our students find meaningful employment. This is why we have developed courses in what we believe are key areas for impact. This includes areas like entrepreneurship, international management and ethics, with other courses like human rights and international development coming soon.
We get our students to learn from and work with academics who are not only experts in their fields but are also enthusiastic about generating tangible change. The courses are designed to overview the necessary academic theory and then apply that theory to real world examples. At MIU, we go one step further by then asking our students to apply the knowledge they have learnt to their own communities in their coursework.
Although we have students from all over the world, we want to ensure that our courses have a community-based focus. This is why MIU students have the option to be a part of a blended learning environment, to work through one of our partners or to be a remote learner engaging with our online community. We know that whichever method of learning our students choose, they will be given the tools and resources to help contribute to their community in a positive way, whether through business, policy, programs, activism or anything else.
