Entrepreneurship in Africa & Middle East Certificate Course
Timetable: Flexible, currently delivered in partnership with host institutions
Duration: 15 weeks
The number of successful business ventures in Africa or the Middle East has significantly increased in the last decade. But, as is true in all markets, understanding both the opportunities and challenges is crucial to succeed. In at times volatile settings with limited resources, entrepreneurs need to put the right mechanisms in place to stand the test of time. This course has been designed to give young entrepreneurs, whom are enthusiastic about starting a business in Africa or in the Middle East the necessary tools to flourish. you will be able to learn innovative strategies by expert professionals to help you get from challenge to triumph.
Foundation in Business Certificate Course
Timetable: Flexible, currently delivered in partnership with host institutions
Duration: 15 weeks
The foundation in business course will equip students with the basics they need to continue to study business, rise in the private sector or eventually start their own venture. Students will be exposed to the different components of running a business, be pushed to think creatively, engage in problem solving and improve both your communication skills as well as your numeracy skills. The foundation in Business is perfect for students who want to enhance their academic and practical skill.
International Management Certificate Course

Duration: 15 weeks
Management is about more than people. If you interested in empowering others, working towards a fairer world by considering different interests, stakeholders and environmental contexts to facilitate development and innovation, this course is for you. This course will help students communicate better and figure out how to elicit efficiency and productivity. It will also help you to consider the external barriers that people may face within organisations and give you insights as to how to support your workforce.
Design & Marketing Course
Timetable: Flexible, currently delivered in partnership with host institutions
Duration: 15 weeks
This course will introduce students to the product development lifecycle process, from ideation to reaching the shelf. Moreover, it will familiarise students with marketing techniques to put products on the market. Marketing is not just promotion and advertisement, it is a function that entails product design, branding, pricing, placement, location and promotion. Understanding design and marketing will help students perform well in any organisational position
Leadership & Communication Course
Timetable: Flexible, currently delivered in partnership with host institutions
Duration: 15 weeks
Understanding what is required to be an effective leader will help you become a better manager but also to inspire and motivate others. All leaders need to strong communication and interpersonal skills to succeed in a professional environment as well in their person lives.
Social Entrepreneurship & Organisational Structure
Timetable: Flexible, currently delivered in partnership with host institutions
Duration: 15 weeks
The Organisational Behaviour and the Social Enterprise certificates examines major theories of organisational behaviour as a mechanism for managing people at work. Students will explore the implications for managers in enacting work and people management activities. The second part of the module aims to build on the information on the social enterprise and to help students understand why social entrepreneurship is necessary for development.
COURSE STRUCTURE
The structure of MIU online courses allow for a substantial amount of flexibility to ensure that students can access them across the globe and at any stage in life.
In all of our courses, you will find topics that are relevant and focused on teaching you the skills and mindset needed to succeed in a particular field.
Each course lasts for 14 weeks and requires around 8 hours of work each week. Depending on which style of learning you are enrolled in (blended or online), you may also have weekly class time included in these 8 hours where you will be working alongside classmates to further enhance your learning.
This class time, if applicable to you, will be set by your course tutor. They will include group discussions, case studies or other activities where students will have the opportunity to engage with the course tutor and peers.
Outside of class, or if you are a fully online learner, you will be required to do readings, watch course videos, complete assignments, and take short quizzes to test your knowledge. The tutor will be available by email for any questions concerning the course.
Students enrolled with MIU will be given a full student handbook to guide them throughout their journey with MIU. Any further questions about the courses can be sent via our short contact form below to the MIU Administrative team.
If students have concerns outside of the class material, they have access to administrative support by email and phone.
Scholarship programmes
We provide scholarships to Forum for cities in Transition member cities (upto 10 students from each city). We have completed Smart incubator platform with BSC-Bar in Montenegro. MIU is a partner of organisation of OTI in Cyprus and InterCollege in Denmark for EU funded training courses.
