SHiFT
Social Innovation Hub
Thirty students have successfully enrolled in the Foundations in Business certificate course of the Management International University (MIU) in Tripoli, Lebanon. The training, student participation and engagement are facilitated and moderated by SHiFT, a social innovation hub leading the transformation of post-conflict and marginalised zones towards peaceful and prosperous communities in Tripoli.
This partnership aims to help launch opportunities for cross-community interaction in education programmes that will tackle poverty and ultimately contribute to the implementation of the FCT Tripoli Road Map*.
Students recently submitted their midterms, completing 12 weeks of the course! This online course also involves weekly meetings and discussions regarding essential management and leadership tools. The discussion sessions also enable the interaction of cross-community groups from varying economical, social and religious backgrounds to come together and engage in activities together.

Week 10 of In-Person Discussion Session (Friday 13 August 2021 from 2-4 PM)
New Paragraph
We are in Week 14 of the Foundations of Business course with the Management International University (MIU), and the participants have shown significant progress.
In this week’s discussion session, facilitated by the teacher assistant @amani.nashar, the participants reconstructed previous content they had completed within the course.
They learnt how to write a business plan with our special guest speaker Joseph Awad, a senior officer with INJAZ, who provides business plan TOT and delivers entrepreneurship programs. This discussion provided the participants with ways to define and organise a business, carry out an effective plan, and think of alternative ideas to sustain a business during challenging situations.

STUDENT TESTIMONIALS
OMAR RUSIAN
I would highly recommend this course to other students. Overall, this course met my expectations for the quality of information it provided, regardless of me being a business graduate, this course has opened up doors I haven't explored before. This class has refuelled my interest in this field of study once again.
CEDRA HASSAN
This is not my first experience with MIU and I look forward to participating in other opportunities offered by this university.
AHMAD SHOGRI
Thank you so much for a wonderful course. I believe now that I have a better understanding of international management which I can apply in real life.
NOUR EL SET
First of all I want to thank you for giving me the chance to enlarge my knowledge (you know that I am a nurse so that’s something not related to business, but it was really helpful to strengthen my skills because being a nurse is also being a leader or manager). The course was good overall and your support was literally great and I can’t forget to mention your follow ups as well. Looking forward to benefit from each piece of information I am going to learn from the next course.
DOAA TATINE
This course was very important to me. In a short period of time, it helped me to review the basic concepts of business management and marketing, that I had previously taken at the university, and the content was very easy and organised. This course also helped me to understand the nature of management within organisations operating in a multicultural environment, as well as to think about management at the international level, not just the local level.
MUHAMMAD ABBAS
This was a very interesting course for me, I think I have learned a lot from it, the flexibility was quite helpful and I appreciate the efforts put into the course.
